What Happens in the Prophesied End Times?

With hundreds of prophecies (some of which are shown on this website – Who is the Jewish Messiah) that have been fulfilled in the past, it is reasonable to believe that what God warned us about in the End Times will be fulfilled in the near future as well. We are going to explore what will happen during the End Times so that we can be ready for it. More importantly, knowledge of the End Times can influence how we live today.

Present Catastrophes vs Catastrophes in the End Times

According to our prophets Daniel and Jeremiah, on that day there will be great trouble that has not happened since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.

Daniel 12:1 ESV “At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book.

Jeremiah 30:7 ESV “Alas! That day is so great there is none like it; it is a time of distress for Jacob; yet he shall be saved out of it.”

How Long will the End Times Last?

According to Daniel 9:27, our prophet Daniel prophesied that the End Times would last seven years.

Daniel 9:27 ESV “And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”

According to our Rabbi Rashi, what does it mean for one week?

“for one week He will promise them the strengthening of a covenant and peace for seven years, but within the seven years, he will abrogate his covenant.”

What will happen in the seven-year period of end times?

God’s warning never stops until He returns. Several hundred years later, after prophets such as Joel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, and Zechariah prophesied about the End Times, God continues to reveal to us what the End Times will look like through the 1st century Jewish writer and revealer John (John’s name is derived from the Hebrew name Yochanan, which means God is gracious) in the Book of Revelation in the New Covenant. Visions from God that Yochanan (John) received are akin to the visions from our prophets Joel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah, and Daniel. However, Yochanan’s visions are more vivid.
