Jerusalem Approaches

Most of the places that we are viewing today were written by our prophets in Tanakh — prophecies were fulfilled, are being fulfilled, and will be completely fulfilled.

Bethleham – Bethlehem was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also a place about which our prophet Micah prophesied in 8th century BCE — a king of the Jews was to be born in Bethlehem. Micah sent two messages to the world: this King was to be born from the clans of Judah in Bethlehem; this King has existed since the beginning of mankind, before the creation of the world (Micah 5:2-5). We will visit the birthplace of this King, our Jewish Messiah Jesus.

Herodium – In the 3rd century BCE, Herod began to build this magnificent project — Herodium which served as his government, administrative center, and one of his palaces in Judea. Herodium consisted of three parts: the mountain palace (Upper Herodium), the entertainment area, administrative center and the king’s funeral complex (Lower Herodium); and the northern part which consisted of his tomb and a royal theater. Herodium is one of the most important building structures in ancient times.

Bethphage – The prophecy of Zechariah 9:9 was fulfilled in Bethphage. Our Jewish Messiah Jesus was a righteous and victorious King who humbly rode a donkey to enter Jerusalem.

The Coming of Zion’s King

Zechariah 9:9: “Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

Our prophet Ezekiel prophesied that people of Israel would experience revival in the future, the ruins would be rebuilt, the number of people and animals would be increased (Ezekiel 36:8-10). After 1948, the State of Israel was reborn, Israel’s economy is booming; however, when we continue to read Ezekiel’s prophecy, we know that the revival of Israel will not be completely fulfilled until our Jewish Messiah comes again.
